City of Hamburg to ban chickens

The Hamburg City Council met on March 14 to discuss administrative progress, building permits, new members to the library board, and the allowance of chickens in the city, among other things. A Hamburg resident asked the city’s permission to have chickens on their property, leading city council members to discuss whether chickens should be allowed and what to do about people who already have them.

Weather Service releases final spring flood outlook for 2022

The National Weather Service released its final spring flood outlook for the Upper Missouri River Basin on Thursday, March 10. Service Hydrologist David Pearson said in the report that there continues to be a below-normal risk for spring flooding this year and that spring flooding will depend largely on the location and intensity of additional precipitation and thunderstorms.

Special Olympics Iowa Mid-Winter Tournament Set for March 11 & 12

The tournament is Athletes and Unified partners from across the state will assemble in Iowa City and Coralville on March 11 and 12 to compete in the Special Olympics Iowa Mid-Winter Tournament. The Mid-Winter Tournament will feature over 900 athletes and Unified partners competing in basketball skills, team basketball, cheer and dance, gymnastics, and powerlifting competitions.
