Iowa Western ‘Over a Cup of Coffee’ presentation topics shared

The Page/Fremont counties center of Iowa Western Community College will host a series of presentations “Over a Cup of Coffee” in the coming weeks. Discussion topics are as follows: Thursday, March 31: “Explore the Country of India,” led by Mary Anne Gibson of Coin; Thursday, April 7: “Genealogy for Beginners,” led by Sandra Bengtson of Sidney; Thursday, April 14: “Our Travel Experiences to Egypt, Greece, and Israel,” led by Pastor Kelly Peavey of Shenandoah; Thursday, April 21: “Tabor and the Northern Railroad,” led by Harry Wilkins of Tabor; and Thursday, April 28: “Carolyn Shares Fun Family Tales,” led by Carolyn Steinbrink of Shenandoah.

Iowa Farm and Rural Life Poll shows farmers support natural resources and outdoor recreation trust fund

In 2010, a majority of Iowans voted for a constitutional amendment that established a Natural Resources and Outdoor Recreation Trust Fund. The purpose of the fund is to provide resources to invest in the conservation of Iowa’s land and water. The amendment stipulated that the trust fund would be financed through a future three-eighths of one percent increase in sales tax, which has not yet occurred.

‘Ice Works’ on display at KHN Center for the Arts through April 29

The Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts is presenting “Ice Works” by Jody Boyer through April 29. Boyer is an artist based in the Omaha/Council Bluffs Metro area. Her latest body of work began in April of 2020 at the start of the pandemic. While Boyer sheltered in place with her family, she found herself reflecting not only on self-care but also on the roles and responsibilities of how we tend to each other, our shared communities, and our shared humanity.

March 20, 2022 Sheriff Kevin Aistrope Reports on March 20, 2022, at approximately 19:30 hrs, Fremont County Deputies were called to the 1900 Block of Park Street in Hamburg, for a report of a possibly intoxicated female driving recklessly in the yard of a church. The vehicle, a 1998 Dodge Dakota, driven by Ashley Frost, age 32 of Hamburg, Iowa, fled the scene prior to deputies’ arrival.
