Wine workshops to be offered for wine industry members, newcomers

Various wine workshops will be held for both grape and wine industry members and consumers in the coming months by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach’s Aude Watrelot, an assistant professor of enology in the department of food science and human nutrition. Industry members are invited to attend two workshops in person at the Iowa State campus, while Wine Wednesdays will be offered for consumers online through WebEx. All events are free but will require registration.

Winter safety tips for clearing ice, snow from gas meters, regulators

Snow and ice buildup on your natural gas meter can create a safety hazard and even cut off the flow of natural gas to your heating equipment and other appliances. To avoid trouble, gently remove snow and ice from on and around the meter with your hands or a broom. Gas meters and regulators are durable and designed with the weather in mind, but a coating of ice or snow could cause a loss of service and become a critical safety issue. When possible, remove the snow before it has a chance to freeze.

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Award Winners Named

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach county offices in the southwest area announced award recipients for outstanding achievements in 2021. Heidi Lowthorp, Fremont County Growing Strong Families Parent Educator, received the Creativity in Service to All Iowans demonstrating creative service to complex demographics of Iowa through outreach.
