The Peru State women's cross country team ran against the big dogs on Saturday as the competed in the Rim Rock Classic hosted by the University of Kansas in Lawrence.

The Bobcats finished tenth out of 11 teams which was primarily made up of NCAA Division I and II teams. The host Jayhawks won the Classic with a team total of 31. The University of Missouri Kansas City was second with 39 points.
Other team placings included: third – Creighton – 99, fourth – Pittsburg St. (Kan.) – 116, fifth – Rockhurst (Mo.) – 148, sixth – Washburn (Kan.) – 151, seventh – Berry (Ga.) – 185, eighth – Northern Colorado – 216; ninth – Oral Roberts (Okla.) – 219, tenth – Peru State – 323, and 11th – Haskell Indian Nations (Kan.) – 324.
As she has all season long, Julia Zurek (Louisville) led the Bobcats. Zurek finished 84th overall and was 61st for scoring purposes in a time of 29:37.5.
The second finisher for the Bobcats was Sophia Schroeder (Ravenna) who was 88th/64th in 32:10.5. Right behind Schroeder was Jacey Sutton (Wahoo) in 89th/65th in 32:22.7.
Peru State's fourth finisher was Alyssa Brink (Oakland, Iowa) who was 91st/66th in 32:54.5. Hailee Lynn (Malcolm) was 93rd/67th in 33:07.3.
Other Bobcat runners and they finishes included: Aubrey Wattier (Malcolm) – 94th/68th – 33:56.0; Brealynn Wattier (Malcolm) – 97th/71st – 35:41.6; Marissa Wingert (Panama, Iowa) – 98th – 36:09.9; Makalah Scheele (Beatrice) – 99th – 36:55.7; and Annika McDonald (Tecumseh) – 100th – 38:51.7.
Upcoming Meets
The Bobcats will be off for several weeks before they compete in the Mid-States Classic hosted Southwestern College in Winfield, Kan. This meet will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 10 a.m.
The last meet of the year will be the Heart of America Athletic Conference championship which will be held on Saturday, Nov. 9. Central Methodist will host the event in Fayette, Mo.
