The Cowboys were leading 34-14 at the half, when, East Mills scored 21 unanswered points in the second half on Friday, September 28.
On their first possession, the Cowboys put together a solid drive that included a 16-yard run by Mister McNaughton, who, finished the game with 188 yards rushing, and a 23-yard run by Jaden Sears. McNaughton would punch the ball in from one yard out and the Cowboys led 8-0 with 7:41 left to play in the first quarter.
East Mills answered with a TD pass to tie the game at 8-8.
Sidney broke up the tie, when McNaughton broke free for a 22-yard TD run and the Cowboys led 14-8 at the end of the first quarter.
The Cowboys had the ball, and on a second and goal, Christian Nennemann pushed his way through for the TD, and Sidney led 22-8 with 8:31 left in the second quarter.
East Mills cut into the lead when Michael Schafer connected with Riley Story on a 16-yard TD pass with 4:58 left in the second quarter, and the Wolverines trailed 22-14.
Sidney started on it's own 15-yard line. Zayne Osborn ripped off a 26-yard run and Brock Shirley scampered for a 21-yard run, and the Cowboys found themselves on East Mills one yard line when Osborn snuck the ball in for the TD with 1:06 left in the first half.
Leading 28-14 with :44 seconds left in the second quarter, Shirley picked off a pass and returned the ball to the Wolverines 28 yard line. On a third and 13, Osborn threw a nice pass to Shirley for the score and the Cowboys went into halftime with a 34-14 lead.
In the third quarter, the Wolverines forced the Cowboys to punt. That's when East Mills blocked the punt and returned the ball for the score, and, after a successful two-point conversion, the Wolverines were down by 12 points.
Half way through the third quarter, Schafer found Nicholas Duysen for a 14-yard TD pass.
Trailing 34-28, East Mills scored on a 21-yard pass. In their first PAT kick on the night, the Wolverines kicked the ball through to take a one point lead with 2:41 left in the fourth quarter.
On a fourth and 20, Nennemann caught a pass from Osborn with :17 seconds left, but unfortunately came up short and the Wolverines won 35-34.
Osborn threw for 54 yards and rushed for 35 yards and two total TD.
McNaughton finished the game with 188 yards and two rushing TD, and caught three passes for 43 yards.
Brydon Huntley led the Cowboys in tackles with six; Osborn, five; McNaughton and Thomas Wilson, four each.
Sidney will be at home to take on Stanton on Friday, October 5.
