The Sidney Cowboys baseball team won 7-6 in the bottom of the seventh against Stanton on June 27, at Sidney.
Sidney had a 6-5 lead when Stanton tied the game in the top half of the sixth.
With Sergio Rodriguez standing at second base in the bottom of the seventh, Zayne Osborn drove the ball for a hit and Rodriguez came all away around to score and Sidney got the exciting victory.
Hitting: Rodriguez, two singles, Cameron Whitehead, two singles; Mister McNaughton, Brett Gruber, and Zayne Osborn, each had singles.
RBI: Osborn, two; Cody Hankins and Rodriguez, one each.
Runs: Whitehead and Rodriguez, two each; Gruber, McNaughton, and Osborn, one each.
Cody Hankins came in and got the win on the hill. Hankins allowed one run, on one hit, and struck out one in one and a third inning. Rodriguez surrendered three runs on six hits and had seven strikeouts in three and two thirds innings. Whitehead contributed two innings of work and allowed one hit and two runs while striking out five.
Sidney lost a tough, high scoring game against Logan-Magnolia 15 to 14 on Thursday, June 28, at Sidney.
The Cowboys are now 7-10 on the season.
Sidney will be at home tonight, July 2, to face Underwood at 5:30 pm and 7 pm.
