The Sidney Cowgirl softball team continues to impress with a 14-0 win over Fremont-Mills, where Camryn McClintock earned the win in the circle and contributed four RBI at the plate on Tuesday, June 12, at Tabor.

Sidney put up six runs in the first inning thanks to a two RBI single by Danica Laumann, and Liz Lang added an RBI double.

In the second inning, Olivia Larsen reached on an error and Laumann drilled an RBI single.  McClintock later hit a sacrifice RBI and Sidney led 8-0.

Caitlyn Ward has been out the last few weeks due to an injury and made her presence known by hitting an RBI single in the third.  McClintock drilled a double that scored two runs and Sidney went on to win 14-0.

Danica Laumann was 2-for-2 with three RBI and three runs scored.

McClintock picked up the win by allowing no runs on two hits and four strikeouts.

“Nice to have Caitlyn Ward back from a injury,” Coach Kent Larsen said.  “Gives us more depth which you need in a summer sport with players having to miss games from time to time for vacations, weddings, other activities.  That is our strength.  We have a lot of different girls we can plug in if someone is gone.”

Sidney 10 Shenandoah 4

After losing to Shenandoah earlier this season, the Cowgirls got some pay back as Olivia Larsen went 4-for-4 with four runs scored and an RBI on Wednesday, June 13, at Shenandoah.

Sidney led 9-0 heading into the fifth inning where Shenandoah tried to make a late comeback but fell short.

Hitting for Sidney: Jolie Sheldon, three singles, one run scored, one RBI; Liz Lang, two singles, run scored; Zoe Moores, two singles, RBI, run scored; Jayden Smith, two singles, RBI, run scored; McClintock, single, RBI.
Pitching: Larsen received the win.  Four innings, six hits, two runs, five strikeouts;  McClintock, three innings, four hits, two runs, one earned, two strikeouts.

The Cowgirls are on a six game winning streak and improve to 11-3 on the season.

Sidney varsity will be at East Mills on Friday, June 15, starting at 5:30 p.m.
