Camyrn McClintock started in the circle for the Sidney Cowgirls and put in seven innings of work, allowing eight hits and two earned runs while striking out five, but errors haunted Sidney as Clarinda won 7-3 on Wednesday, May 30, at Sidney.

“We made too many defensive mistakes,” Coach Kent Larsen said.  “We need to communicate more on defense and be more aggressive.”

It was a pitchers duel for five innings until Clarinda scored four runs in the top half of the sixth inning.
Right fielder Sidnie Baier was 2-for-3 at the plate with a single, double, and a run scored.  Jolie Sheldon, Danica Laumann, Olivia Larsen, and Presley Brumbaugh each had one hit.
Liz Lang, Jayden Smith, and Sheldon each had an RBI.

This season, the Cowgirls have been battling injuries.  Starters Kennedee Whipple and Caitlyn Ward are out for an extended amount of time.  “That hurts our depth, but Danica Laumann has done an outstanding job and Makenna Laumann and Presley Brumbaugh have done a nice job of filling in,” Coach Larsen said.

The Cowgirls are now 5-3 on the season and will be at Council Bluffs to face St. Albert tonight, June 1, starting at 7 p.m.

Sidney Cowboys 7 West Harrison 5.
With the score tied at 4-4, Sidney put together a three-run inning during the bottom of the sixth.  Sergio Garcia came in the game for relief duties and earned the save.  Winning pitcher was Cody Hankins.
Sidney picked up it’s second win on the year and are now 2-4.
The Cowboys JV and Varsity will be on the road at Elkhorn to face Exira-EHK tonight, June 1, at 5:30 p.m.
