Elsie Marie Grotheer, age 82 of Nebraska City died Nov. 11, 2019, at The Ambassador in Nebraska City.  
Elsie was born July 24, 1937 in Oketo, Kan., the daughter of Fred R. and Faye V. (Clopper) Garman.  
She married Kurt Grotheer Aug. 24, 1958, in Beatrice.  
Elsie formerly lived in Blue Springs, Lincoln and Omaha before moving to Nebraska City in 1981.  
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and had worked various positions for the City of Nebraska City including a secretary at City Hall, Dock Board Secretary, Cemetery Board Secretary and Meter Maid.  Elsie volunteered for many activities and was very involved with her children’s activities.
She loved needle point, singing in a choir and singing with the Song Birds.
Survivors include her husband, Kurt Grotheer; children, Tim/Kim Grotheer, Beth Williamson, Richard Grotheer/James Zank and Andy Grotheer, all of Nebraska City; grandchildren, Dianne/D.J. Heiman and Danielle/Taylor Hoskinson; great grandchild, Olivia Grandizio; sisters, Ruth Huston of Nebraska City, Samantha/Adam Leach of Wymore and Tabatha Fox of Beatrice; as well as many other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Marvin Garman; foster brother, James Whaley and brother in law, Bud Huston.
Funeral services were to be 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, 2019, at Marshall Funeral Chapel in Nebraska City.  
Graveside services were to be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at Blue Springs Cemetery in Blue Springs.
Visitations were to be 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Marshall Funeral Chapel in Nebraska City with the family greeting friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
