Richard “Dick” Leon Lewis was born July 20, 1940, in Hastings, to Richard L. and Mildred M. (Fletcher) Lewis.
He was raised in Arapahoe with older brother Charles (“Charlie”).
After graduating from Arapahoe High School, he went to Emily Griffith Opportunity School in Denver to learn to be a barber, and later the US Navy.
He married Sally Jo (Wurtele) in May of 1969, and the family grew with the birth of sons Todd and Tracy.
The family eventually relocated to Pearl City, Hawaii, where they remained for the bulk of his naval career.  After nearly thirty years of military service Dick retired in 1989, and he and Sally relocated to Nebraska City where they bought their first home.
Dick passed away April 19, 2019, at his home in Nebraska City after suffering from numerous health issues.
He was preceded in death by wife Sally, his parents, and his brother.  Survivors include sons, Todd Lewis (Mark Tolly) of Denver, Colo., and Tracy Lewis (Lorena Opiana) of Honolulu, Hawaii; beloved niece Missy Marth (Todd) of Nebraska City; great-nieces, Emilee Marth and Hannah Marth; Uncle John Lewis (Wanda) of West Des Moines, Iowa; brother-in-law, Jerry Wurtele (Susie) of Nebraska City; nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
