Larry A. Bottcher, age 60, of Talmage, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Aug. 8, 2018, eight and one half years after his diagnosis of a glioblastoma brain tumor.
Larry was born on Sept. 24, 1957, at St. Mary‘s Hospital in Nebraska City, the son of Lyman O. and Kathleen M. (Heng) Bottcher. He grew up in Talmage and graduated from the Nemaha Valley High School in 1976.
Larry married Susan Kay Foster on April 3, 1982, at the United Methodist Church in Nebraska City.
Larry was a life long farmer and was the owner/operator of Bottcher Ag Sales with his father Lyman.
He was very active in the Talmage community and served on the Talmage Volunteer Fire Department, the Tri Valley Bank Board of Directors, the Otoe County Farm Bureau Board and the Talmage Farmers Cooperative Board of Directors.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Susan Bottcher of Talmage; daughter Megan Brehm and husband Randall of Syracuse; three grandchildren: Lauren, Leighton and Lyndon; mother Kathleen Bottcher of Talmage; siblings: Connie Miller and Bob Miller of Omaha and Vicki Slaughter and husband George of Olathe, Kan.; brothers and sisters-in-law: Dan Foster and wife Terry of Union and Linda Halstead and husband Bryce of Kimball; other family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Lyman on Aug. 3, 2018; his grandparents and his mother and father-in-law Rose Ann and John Foster.
Funeral Services were to be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 13, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in rural Nebraska City. (Paul). Fr. Michael Ventre was to celebrate the Mass and burial was to follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
The family was to greet friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City followed by a Prayer Service/Rosary at 6 p.m.
Memorials may be given to the Talmage Volunteer Fire Department.
