Doris I. Abernathy, age 90 of Lincoln, formerly of Nebraska City died May 17, 2018 at Rehabilitation Center  in Lincoln.  
She was born September 20, 1927 in Bedford, Iowa, the daughter of G.L. “Lew” and Elsie E. (Shelman) Hunt.  Doris married Donald Abernathy October 7, 1947 in Lincoln.  
Don died Aug. 18, 1996.  
Doris worked at Pendleton’s for several years and was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Nebraska City Lion’s Club.  
She loved fishing, cooking, baking, helping people and spoiling her family.  
Survivors include her son, Steven Abernathy and fiancé Cyndi Hahn of Nebraska City; daughter, Annette Pickering and husband Joe of Beatrice; grandchildren, Tish Roberts and husband Scott, Lisa Diedrichsen and husband Brian, Melissa Jasper and husband Aaron, Nathan Abernathy and wife Courtney, Suzanne Pickering and fiancé Tim McElroy, Brian Pickering and wife Rachel, Janelle Pickering, Lindsay Blood and husband Josh; sixteen great grandchildren; brother in law and sister in law, Bill and LaVonda Abernathy of Papillion; brother in law, Ray Shepard of Arizona; very special friends, all of the staff at Lancaster Manor; many other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Eugene Hunt and sister, Betty Shepard.  
Funeral services were to be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, at Marshall Funeral Chapel in Nebraska City with burial in Wyuka Cemetery.
Visitations were to be 1 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with the family greeting friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to Rehabilitation Center, Station 5.
