Popeyes says it has no plans to stop selling its new chicken sandwich despite recent acts of violence at some locations.
The sandwich was an instant hit, becoming so popular earlier this year that the chain actually sold out and had to temporarily remove them from the menu. They returned over the weekend.
A man died after being stabbed Monday night at a Maryland Popeyes location. In a written statement provided to TMZ, the company called it a "senseless act of violence."
TMZ reports there was also a brawl at a different Maryland location and a fight in the drive-through at a Florida location. In Houston, a man allegedly pulled a gun on Popeyes employees, according to TV station KTRK.
Popeyes told TMZ it has boosted staffing to meet the tremendous demand for the sandwiches. It also said that "additional onsite security matters are handled by the franchisees" who run most Popeyes locations.
