With the season fast approaching, fifth-year Peru State cross country coach Katy Billings has announced three additional new recruits for the upcoming 2019 season.
All three newcomers will be freshman at Peru State this fall.
The new recruits and a brief synopsis follow:
Briana McLaughlin (Robins, Iowa) will be a pre-medicine major. She is the daughter of Craig and Melissa McLaughlin and graduated from John F Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids. She ran her personal best time of 19:49.3 in 5,000 meters at the Iowa High School Athletic Association championships last fall.

Sierra Jones (Peru) is the daughter of Jason and Jodie Jones and graduated from Auburn High School. Jones plans to major in early childhood education inclusive B-3. Jones posted her personal best at 5,000 meters of 21:43.5 at the Syracuse Invitational last fall.

Sophia Schroeder (Ravenna) plans to major in graphic design. The Ravenna High School graduate is the daughter of Ken and Andrea Schroeder. Schroeder's personal best at 5,000 meters was 22:49.8 which she ran in the Nebraska High School Activities Association D-5 District meet last October.

These three will join the returners Julia Zurek (Louisville), Jacey Sutton (Wahoo), Annika McDonald (Tecumseh), Marissa Wingert (Panama, Iowa), Alyssa Brink (Oakland, Iowa), Caitlyn Longfellow (Auburn), Hailee Lynn (Malcolm), Makalah Scheele (Beatrice), Aubrey Wattier (Malcolm), and Brealynn Wattier (Malcolm).
Coach Billings' largest team will begin its season on Friday, September 6, in Maryville, Mo., when they take part in the Northwest Missouri Bearcat Invitational.
