Michael T. Klimesh, current Spillville resident and Mayor, is announcing his candidacy for the Iowa State House of Representatives District 15.  Michael is running on the Republican ticket for the house seat based on the premise that government should work to serve the people, not the other way around. While he states he’s “not a politician, just a hard-working guy who wants to make a difference,” Michael is well aware of the realities that face many Iowans in these tough economic times.
Born and raised in Northeast Iowa, son of a small business owner and general manager of a growing small business himself, he’s seen hard times and the turmoil they cause.  “Everyone talks about responsible government, but I want to talk about responsive government, a government that responds to the will of the people, working to provide real solutions to real problems that affect the lives of everyday people not just providing lip service.  Government is now in a reactive mode.  I will work to move it into a proactive mode, identifying potential hot spots and building solutions before they become a full blown fire.”
Michael is supported in his campaign for House Seat District 15 by his wife, Kate, and his son, Benjamin.  “All I know is that my husband has worked hard to leave Spillville better than he found it as Mayor.  He has never had a personal agenda, he just works for what is right,” says Kate.
Iowa House District 15 includes all of Howard and Chickasaw County and the Western and Southern half of Winneshiek County including the towns of Calmar, Ossian, Fort Atkinson, and Spillville.  To contact Michael with your support or to voice your opinion on issues that concern you, email him at mike@klimeshforiowahouse.com.
