The Cowgirls of Sidney reached their 30th win on Senior Night, after winning a 3-0 contest against Fremont-Mills on Tuesday, October 9.
Score: 25-14, 25-15, 25-17.
Sidney led 14-10 in the first set and rattled off eight straight points. Leading 23-14, Maddy Duncan, who had a career high, 10 kills, scored the last two points to get the set victory.
The Cowgirls trailed at the beginning of the last set, and with the score tied 11 to 11, Kelsey Hobbie had a nice block for the score, and Sidney never looked back.
Camryn McClintock led Sidney with 11 kills; Kelsey Hobbie, 10 kills; Makenna Jarosz, six.
Olivia Larsen led the Cowgirls in assists with 34 and contributed three ace serves, while Jaden Daffer picked up 12 digs. Hobbie was solid at the net with three blocks.
Sidney played tough defense at the net and tallied seven blocks in a performance that Coach Amy McClintock was pleased with in that area of the game. “Defensively we made some pretty good saves and kept the ball alive,” McClintock said. “Overall, we played well.”
As districts approach, and the Cowgirls seeking another state appearance, Coach McClintock wants to clean up some mistakes that her team had in this contest against Fremont-Mills. “We had more errors tonight than we have had in a long time,” McClintock said. “We need to play more consistently and making sure our passes are getting up front so it opens up areas across the net, and moving quicker to get over on blocks, because a lot of teams down the road are going to play at a fast pace.”
