Cameron Whitehead struck out 11 batters during the Cowboys game against Essex, where Sidney won 6-3 on Monday, June 4, at Essex.

Whitehead has been battling a sore hamstring, and with some time off, took to the mound and contributed in a big way.


With the game tied at two a piece at the end of the third inning, Sidney came away with a big three run inning in the top half of the fourth.


In the seventh inning, Sidney added another run, and in the bottom of the seventh Sergio Rodriguez came in the game to pitch and earned the save.


Rodriguez led the Cowboys in hitting by going 2-for-3 at the plate with a double, single, and three RBI.


Hitting: Leighton Whipple, Brett Gruber, Cody Hankins, Mister McNaughton, Cale Phillips, Caleb Behrends, and Jaden Sears, all had singles.
RBI: Sears and Garrett Phillips each had one.
Runs scored: Whipple, Gruber, Hankins, Cale Phillips, Jackson Gorham, and Sears, one each.
Whitehead threw six and a third innings, and allowed three runs, on four hits, and striking out 11.
Rodriguez got the save by tossing two thirds innings.


Sidney improves to 3-4 on the summer and will face Stanton on Friday, June 8, starting at 8 p.m. at Stanton.
