It was another Corner Conference title for the Sidney Cowgirls basketball team as they defeated Fremont-Mills 55-36 thanks to a 16 point, four rebound night from Liz Lang on Friday, Feb. 2 at Fremont-Mills.
Sidney, now on a 10-game win streak, has averaged 60 points offensively and given up 33 points on the defensive side.
“I think we are in a good position going into districts,”  Coach Amy McClintock said.  “We have to do a better job of boxing out and making sure we’re moving on offense.”
Sidney found themselves down by two points early in the third quarter but the Cowgirls found a rhythm and went on a 26-3 run.
Sidney had three players in double-digit scoring.  Noted scorers were Lang, 16; Camryn McClintock, 15; Maddy Duncan, 14; Caitlyn Ward, six; Danica Laumann, four.
Duncan lead the Cowgirls in rebounding with eight boards and was the assist leader with five.
Sidney will be at Council Bluffs to face St. Albert on Saturday, Feb. 10.  Earlier this season, St Albert won 68-58 over the Cowgirls. Coach McClintock said her team understands what it will take to win.
“We have to make sure we are getting on the boards and rebounding when we play them on Saturday,” McClintock said.
“If we play like we are capable for all four quarters, we will be in good shape.”
