Lourdes 39 Sidney 21
Sidney struggled with the length of the Lourdes Central Knights as the Cowboys turned the ball over 26 times in a loss on Saturday, Jan. 13, at Nebraska City.
“We didn’t handle their press very well,” coach Kent Larsen said.  “We had more turnovers than we had shots.”
Defensively, Larsen was pleased with how his team performed by holding the Knights to 39 points, but there were too many turnovers and poor shot selections.
Sidney had opportunities to get fast break points but the height of the Knights made it difficult for the Cowboys to get any baskets and shift momentum.
“We don’t see that pressure very much and it’s tough to prepare for. We didn’t do a very good job of handling it,”  coach Larsen said.  “Defensively I’m very proud on how we played.”
Sidney was scheduled to compete in a tournament on Tuesday, Jan. 15 at Essex.
