Sharen Dawn Carder, 66, died Aug. 22, 2009 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha following a six month battle with Acute Leukemia. She was born Aug. 1, 1943 in St. Joseph, Mo., to Bryan Raud and Doris Markland Watts.
She lived in St. Joseph then, at the age of 8, following her father’s death in 1952, the family moved to Fortescue, Mo. She graduated from Craig High School in 1961. She was a member of the First Methodist Church at Fortescue. She was adopted by her stepfather, Quentin Goolsby.
She married Vernon Eugene Carder in February of 1961.
Sharen worked at Community Hospital in Fairfax, Robert McCrory Insurance Agency in Mound City, Mo., then as a receptionist at the Fairfax Medical Clinic for Dr. James Hunter, and currently for Dr. Emerson Ireland.
She attended the United Methodist Church in Fairfax and had a strong faith. She was devoted to her family and was a true friend to many.
She was preceded by her father, Bryan R. Watts; stepfather, Quentin Goolsby; and grandson, Nicholas Eugene Carder.
She is survived by sons Kirbi Eugene Carder and wife Andrea, Rock Port, Mo., and Kevin David Carder and wife Jolene, Tarkio, Mo.; daughter Karen Dawn Burke and husband Scott, Fairfax; grandchildren Quentin and Marisa Carder; Elias, Trystan, MaKenna, Joey, and Ryan Carder; and McKale, Daltyn and Darian Burke; mother Doris Virginia Goolsby, Rock Port; sister Karen Vawn Wanamaker and husband Dr. John, Hamburg; nephews Brian and Shawn Ireland, Kansas City, Mo., and Steven Ireland, Omaha; and a host of friends.
A memorial service was Wednesday, Aug. 26, 10 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Fairfax, Mo., with Rev. Mike Eighmy officiating. Inurnment was at English Grove Cemetery in Fairfax.
