Howard Potter, Jr., 80, of Nebraska City died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009 at St. Mary’s Community Hospital in Nebraska City. He was born on Oct. 7, 1929 at Hamburg, the son of Howard Wilson and Hazel Ruth (Ware) Potter. 

He graduated from Hamburg High School in 1947.   He entered the U.S. Army in 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1953 after service in Korea.

On Nov. 8, 1953, he married Shirley Ann Baur in Omaha. They lived in Hamburg.
Howard worked at Athen Implement, Master’s Implement, then owned and operated his own business, Howard’s Tractor Repair in Nebraska City, as well as working at other places.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Nebraska City, American Legion Post #8 and the We-Wanna-Go Camping Club.

He is survived by his wife of over 55 years, Shirley Potter of Nebraska City; his children:  David Potter and wife Mary of Lincoln, Kevin Potter and wife Kathryn of Lincoln, Cindy Stalder and husband Darwin of Humboldt, and Brad Potter and partner Tom Bordenkirtcher of Hilliard, Ohio; nine grandchildren:  Stephanie Potter and partner Brigid of Chicago, Jonathan Potter and wife Anissa Pinkham of Portland, Maine, Rebecca Sands and husband Patrick of Lincoln,  Caitlyn Potter and Jeremy Potter, both of Lincoln, and Ashley, Jamie, Dustin and Laura Stalder all of Humboldt, Neb.; great-grandchildren: Sebastian Pinkham, Basil Pinkham Potter and Aghna Pinkham Potter; other family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were Saturday at the Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City with Rev. Jeff Kelley officiating.  Burial was in the Mt. Olive Cemetery southeast of Hamburg.

Memorials may be given to the family.
