Michael K. Dankof, 60, of Hamburg, died May 19, 2010 at the VA Medical Center in Grand Island. He was born on Feb. 13, 1950 at Hamburg, the son of Darrell “Danny” and Ruth (Moore) Dankof. He graduated from Hamburg High School in 1968. He then entered the United States Navy and served his country from 1968 to 1972 during the Vietnam War.
Michael attended one year of college, studying water treatment. He then worked in water treatment plants in both California and Kansas City. He also worked at Manildra in Hamburg and as a security guard at Cargill in Nebraska City.
Michael is survived by his children, James D. Dankof and wife Patricia of McAllister, Okla., Bryan L. Dankof and fiancé Annie of East End Little Rock, Ark., and Amanda K. Cederstrom of Blue Springs, Mo.; step-son Chris More and wife Christina of Blue Springs, Mo.; mother Ruth Dankof of Hamburg; two step-grandchildren; siblings Danny Dankof of St. Joseph, Mo., Annette Thompson of Hamburg and Mary Gail Lyons and husband Tom of Washington, Iowa; and other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Darrell “Danny” Dankof on May 8, 1987; nephew David Thompson in 2008; and special friend Susan Petersen.
Memorial graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 5, at the Hamburg Cemetery in Hamburg; inurnment will follow the services. Complete military services will be conducted by the Hamburg American Legion.
Memorials may be given to Hospice of Southwest Iowa.
