Doris M. Brown, 89, of rural Riverton, died on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at The Ambassador in Sidney. Doris Marilyn Brown was born on April 22, 1920 near Watson, Mo., the daughter of Oscar L. and Ruth (Adams) Moore, Sr.
She graduated from Underwood High School in Underwood. She married Elbert N. Brown on Feb. 20, 1940 at High Creek Baptist Church in rural Watson, Mo.
Doris was a devoted wife and mother. She helped as a nurse’s aid at Grape Community Hospital. She was a member of the Riverton United Methodist Church and enjoyed square dancing and riding horses.
She is survived by son Rick Brown and wife Pam of Jefferson City, Mo.; sister Deana Boettner and husband J.H. and brother Oscar Moore, Jr. and wife Margaret, all of Rock Port, Mo.; other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert, in January of 2001; sister Helen Beasing; and three brothers: Byron, Don and Ralph.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 31, 2009 at the Riverton United Methodist Church in Riverton with Rev. Jaye Johnson officiating; burial will follow the services at Utterback Cemetery of rural Riverton.
There will be open visitation on Thursday, July 30, at the Shull-Gude Funeral Home in Riverton from 2-7 p.m.
Memorials may be given to Riverton United Methodist Church or Grape Community Hospital Extended Care.
