Hazel H. Vogel, 98, of Hamburg died on Monday, May 17, 2010 at the Tabor Manor in Tabor. Hazel Helen Zanker Vogel was born on July 21, 1911 in Atchison County, Mo., to Charles and Mary Ann (Weste) Zanker. 
She graduated from Hamburg High School in 1929 then attended Peru State Teachers College in Peru, Neb., for one year.

She married Alton Glen Vogel on Feb. 4, 1937. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother.  She worked at Stoner Drug for many years and was a member of the Legion Auxiliary and First United Methodist Church in Hamburg for 82 years, joining in 1928.

She is survived by children David C. Vogel and wife Bernice of Hamburg and Judy Smith of Papillion, Neb.; four grandchildren, Quintin Smith, Chad Smith, Dennis Vogel and Jason Vogel; seven great-grandchildren; siblings Paul Zanker and wife Carolyn and Ruby Nelson, all of Hamburg; and other family and friends.

Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Alton, on Oct. 17, 1984, and siblings Carl Zanker, Raymond Zanker, Harold Zanker and Hilda Hilger.

Graveside funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 24, at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Hamburg with Rev. Suzanne Vogel officiating; burial will follow the services.

The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, May 23, at the mortuary.

The casket will remain closed.

Memorials may be given to the Hamburg Rescue.
