Berniece V. Nash, 97, of Hamburg, Iowa, died Friday, Feb. 12, 2010 at the Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa. She was born on Feb. 12, 1913 at Iowa Falls, Iowa, the daughter of John and Betty Sullivan. She married Jack Nash Jan. 3, 1931.
She is survived by her children: Jack Nash of Minneapolis, Minn., Paul Nash and wife Nancy of Windsor Heights, Iowa, and Marion Hodde of Nebraska City; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1973, a sister Mary Ellen Collins and son-in-law Ray Hodde.
She was a member of the Hamburg First United Methodist Church. The word that best describes her is love.
In honoring Berniece’s wishes, there will be a graveside funeral service on Tuesday, Feb. 16, at noon at the Hamburg Cemetery in Hamburg with Rev. Thelma Subramanian officiating; burial will follow the services.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 15 at the Rash-Gude Funeral Home in Hamburg.
Memorials may be given to the Hamburg Methodist Church, Grape Community Hospital or Mercy Hospice, 5820 Winwood Dr., Johnston, IA 50131.
