Ila J. (Hickey) Golden, 75, of rural Thurman, Iowa, died on Sept. 14, 2009 at BryanLGH East Medical Center in Lincoln, Neb.

She was born on Sept. 21, 1933 at Thurman, the daughter of John Edward and Vera Alta (Savidge) Hickey.  She was one of 11 children.

She graduated from Thurman High School in 1950.

She married Rich B. “Bob” Golden on Feb. 18, 1950 at the Presbyterian Church in Red Oak, Iowa.

Ila was a housewife and homemaker and was active in the family farming operation.  In her younger years, she was  a Girl Scout leader.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

She is survived by her two children:  Cynthia G. Henderson and husband James of Westboro, Mo., and Gregory J. Golden and wife Teresa of Thurman, Iowa; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three brothers:  Gerald Hickey and wife Joyce of Northboro, Iowa, Keith Hickey and wife Lela of Tabor, Iowa, and David Hickey and wife Ramona of Carson, Calif.; other family and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, on May 14, 2009; a son, Rich B. “Rick” Golden, Jr. in 1984; an infant daughter, Eleanor, brothers: John, Cecil, Paul and Roy Dean; and sisters:  Mildred, Edna and Helen.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 18, at 11 a.m. at the Rash-Gude Funeral Home in Hamburg.  Ila’s brother Keith Hickey will officiate. Burial will be in the Grandview Cemetery near Sidney, Iowa.

The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Rash-Gude Funeral Home in Hamburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Sidney Fire/Rescue Department.
