Darlene L. Carman, 87 of Cook, passed away July 28, 2018, at the Johnson County Hospital in Tecumseh. She was born on Nov. 13, 1930, to Charles J. & Hattie (Puppe) Pieper near Cook.
Darlene married Duane Carman on January 1, 1948, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cook.
She worked on the farm with Duane and also was a cook and clerk at multiple businesses around Cook. Darlene was involved with the Friendly Farmerettes Extension Club, Grace Lutheran Church and the Cook Rescue Squad.
She enjoyed crocheting, painting, gardening and was an avid bowler. Darlene also enjoyed music and playing the guitar.
She is survived by her sons: Garry (Sharon) Carman, Mike (Kathy) Carman, Lyle Carman, Bob (Deb) Carman; grandchildren: Amy Leising, Andy Carman, Jeremy Carman, James Carman, Stephanie Carman, Steven Carman, Valerie Melson, Michael Melson, Nicole Carman, Tara Woltemath, Lane Carman, John Carman, Kelsey Hoffman, Haley Hoffman; 21 great grandchildren; Sister: Amanda Stoner; also many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Duane; siblings: Hilda Melhop, August Pieper, Irma Stoner, Minnie Kramer, Clara Stoner and grandson: Allan Carman.
Memorial services will be Friday, Aug. 3 at 2 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Cook. Inurnment will follow at the Cook cemetery.
Visitation was to be held Thursday, Aug. 2, from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home in Syracuse.
Memorials are suggested to Grace Lutheran Church or Cook Rescue Squad.
