Wayne E. Straube, 85 of Palmyra, passed away on July 12, 2018, in Syracuse. He was born on Nov. 26, 1932, to Ernest & Meta (Menninga) Straube in Lincoln.
Wayne graduated from Burr High School in 1950 and then served in the US Army.
He married Evelyn Morrell on June 2, 1962, in Palmyra. Wayne worked for Gartner construction for 20+ years and also owned the Straube Repair Business in Burr. He was a member of American Legion 195 in Palmyra, an active member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church and enjoyed gardening, old tractors and grandchildren’s music and sport events.
Wayne is survived by his wife: Evelyn Straube; children: Robert (Marcia) Straube, William (Jane) Straube, Susan (Mike) Dreher; grandchildren: Alyssa (Steve) Pravecek, Taylor Straube, Andy Straube, Matthew Dreher, Mallory Dreher; also many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Marvin and infant brother.
Funeral services were to be held on Wednesday, July 18, at 10:30 a.m. at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Palmyra. Burial was to follow at Rosewood Cemetery.
Visitation was to be held on Tuesday, July 17, from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home in Syracuse.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the family’s choice.
