Paul Ernest Greene, age 79 of Nebraska City died Dec. 27, 2017, at Bryan LGH West Medical Center in Lincoln.  
Paul was born July 15, 1938, in Bellows Falls, Vt., the son of Jay E. and Fedora (Taylor) Greene.  
He married Carol Thomas Feb. 29, 1960, in Omaha.  
Carol died Dec. 8, 2011.  Paul served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956 to 1960.  He formerly lived in Claremont, N.H. and North Platte before moving to Nebraska City in 1973.  
Paul had worked for Goodyear in Vermont and Lincoln, the Missouri Pacific Railroad and as a Woodmen of the World area manager.  
In later years, he worked at the V.F. Mall in Nebraska City before he retired.  
He was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of which he was a past board member.  
He was also a member of the National Rifle Association and Nebraska City American Legion Post No. 8.  
Paul loved riding his Harley, hunting, fishing, woodworking and reading.  
He was an animal lover and always fed the birds and squirrels in the neighborhood.
Paul is survived by his son, Jay E. Greene and significant other Tonya Williams of Bellevue; daughters, Paula Howell and husband Terry of Lewiston; Teresa Sutton and husband Mike of Lincoln; 15 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sisters in law, Barbara Brown of Nebraska City and Lois Thomas of Independence, Mo.; many other relatives and friends.  
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; grandsons, Jason Thomas and Shawn Greene; sister, Sue Ann Greene; brothers in law, Frank Thomas and Roger Brown.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nebraska City with burial to follow in Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City.
Visitations will be 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Marshall Funeral Chapel in Nebraska City with the family greeting friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
