Gerald Roger “Jerry” Komma, 76, passed away Friday, Nov. 24, 2017, on his 55th wedding anniversary, at Senior Suites of Urbandale in Urbandale, Iowa. Per his wishes cremation rites have been accorded and no services are planned.
Jerry was born Oct. 25, 1941, in Nebraska City, to Robert and Edna (Brandorff) Komma.
He graduated from Nebraska City High School in 1959 and married Martha Niday, his high school sweetheart, on Nov. 24, 1962, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebraska City. While a Hinky Dinky employee, Jerry was transferred to Des Moines in 1964. He retired as a shipping clerk at Townsend Engineering in 2002.  
Jerry loved classic cars, was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan, and enjoyed country music, especially Merle Haggard.  He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Martha, brother, Darrel (Lois) Komma of Janesville, Wisc.; two brothers-in-law, Jerry (Darlene) Niday of Ceresco, and Mike (Jane) Niday of Overland Park, Kan.; sister-in-law, Beth Zarin of Ashburn, Va., and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers-in-law, Dick and Lanny Niday.
