Bonnie Jean Forsch Zellmer peacefully passed from this life, surrounded by family, on Sept. 11, 2017.
Bonnie was born on July 23, 1940, to Emil and Albina (Stroh) Forsch, near the family farm in Herrick (Burke), S.D.
She attended grade school in a one-room school house, and she graduated from Burke High School in 1958.
Following graduation, she and her sister, Shirley, attended Stewart’s School of Hairstyling in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Bonnie started working in St. Paul, Minn., in the mid-1960’s and was the beautician for a lady who became quite fond of her and who introduced Bonnie to her brother, Raymond Zellmer.
Ray and Bonnie were united in marriage on Oct. 2, 1965, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in St. Paul, Minn.
They welcomed two daughters, Colleen Marie and Carolyn Mae.
The family lived in the Minneapolis, Minn., area until 1979, when Ray and Bonnie  took a leap of faith and moved the family to Tecumseh, and started a business venture.
Ray and Bonnie worked as a team as they built Ray’s Auto Supply into a business where customers knew they would experience first-rate customer service from an honest and hard-working couple.
Ray and Bonnie weathered life’s ups and downs as their lives moved forward in Tecumseh.  Sadly, in November of 1986, Ray lost a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Bonnie lived in Lincoln for most of the rest of her life, where she discovered a new talent in the floral industry, formed friendships and loved going out to eat.
Her greatest joy was experienced in sharing in the lives of her grandchildren.  She was attentive, took a great interest in their lives and always remembered to send them Valentines (often home-made).
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; her parents, Emil and Albina Forsch; her infant sister, Karen; brothers, Gary, LuVerne “Bing” and LaVonne “Von” Forsch; sisters, Lorraine Forsch and Shirley Berg; three grandchildren through miscarriage; and one grandson, Garrett, born at rest.
Survivors include daughters Colleen Michels and husband Steve of Lincoln, Carolyn Whitney and husband Joshua of Nebraska City and Brenda Gronseth of Rochester, Minn.; sisters, Verna Aeschbacher of Billings, Mont., Marlene Percy of Sioux Falls, S.D., Marjorie Schroeder of Fond du Lac, Wisc., Jannette Gessner of Oakdale, Minn., Joyce Knutson of Kaw City, Okla., and Marlys Cardelli of St. Paul, Minn.; grandchildren Catherine “Katy” Michels, Gabriel Michels, Audrey Michels, Joseph Whitney,  Sophia Whitney, Abigail Michels and Seth Whitney; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial was to be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept 18, at St Patrick’s Catholic Church, Lincoln, with Father Troy Schweiger officiating.
Visitation with the family receiving friends was to be on Sunday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Butherus Maser and Love funeral home, 4040 A St.
Rosary was to be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested for Masses or to Bonnie’s grandchildren’s educational fund.
