Randolph “Randy” Joe Powell, age 83 of Nebraska City died July 22, 2017, at the Good Samaritan Society in Omaha.  
Randy was born Sept. 19, 1933, in Burr, the son of Thomas and Dena (Klaasmeyer) Powell.  
He married Georgia (Johnson) Moell March 29, 1962 in Cook.  
Georgia died June 13, 2005.  
Randy was a heavy equipment operator for Lincoln Public Schools prior to his retirement.  He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1960.  
Randy was affectionally known as Sticks by his close friends.  
He did cross stitch and was very active in veteran’s organizations.  
Randy was a member of the Nebraska City American Legion Post No. 8, 40 & 8 and the V.F.W.  
Survivors include his brother, Thomas Powell of Omaha; several nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends.  
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Georgia and sister, Kathleen Benis.
Funeral services were to be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 25, at Marshall Funeral Chapel in Nebraska City with burial in Soldier’s Row in Wyuka Cemetery,  Nebraska City.
Visitations were to be 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Otoe County Veteran’s Van.
