A Council Bluffs man accused of robbery at the Casey’s General Store in Sidney, Iowa, on Nov. 10 allegedly handed the clerk a threatening note.

Court records indicate that Ralph S. Peterson, 47, had his hand in his pocket causing the clerk to believe he had a weapon.

Investigators say Peterson wrote a note and handed it to the clerk.

“I don’t want to hurt you or your children. I want you to ring up my stuff, then put all the bills in the bag. Otherwise, I’ll kill everyone in the store,” court records say.

Peterson is also charged with not paying for eight gallons of gasoline valued at $21 and misdemeanor criminal mischief for damage to a jail cell in Sidney.

Peterson entered a not guilty plea Nov. 14. Trial is set Feb. 15.
