In their first home game of the season, Sidney made big plays, but penalties held the Cowboys back in it's loss to Exira-EHK 43-8 on Friday, August 31.

The Spartan’s Josh Pettepier had four touchdown passes and one rushing TD in this contest.

Exira lead 14-0 in the first quarter after Pettepier connected on a 61 yard td pass.

Down 20 to 0, the Cowboys scored on a five play drive in the second quarter, when Jaden Sears fired a 12 yard touchdown pass to Zayne Osborn in the end zone. Mister McNaughton scored the two point conversion after diving in the end zone on a run play.

On the Spartans next possession, Sears cut in front of a pass, and intercepted the ball on the Spartans 30 yard line.  Sidney had a promising drive, but turned the ball over on an interception of it’s own.

In the fourth quarter, Christian Nennemann broke free for a 38 yard td, but the play was called back for a holding penalty.

Still in the fourth quarter, Exiras, Jayden Goodwin, busted a 46 yard td to ice the game.
