Innovators, experts, educators, and trailblazers came together at the 4th annual Women Gaining Ground conference on March 10 in Glenwood Iowa.
The conference is a fun one-day event created to empower women of different backgrounds. The event was presented by Women, Land & Legacy (WLL), a USDA outreach program that enables Iowa women who are passionate about the agricultural community.
The conference had over 15 professional sponsors. This year’s keynote speaker was author Dr. Deanna Davis, PhD. Her presentation, “How Chocolate Cures Stress (And Other Stuff You Wish You’d Known Sooner).”  illustrated how to balance life stress with grace and humor.
The conference featured several breakout workshops that included fun topics such as meal planning, cookie decorating and chair yoga, as well as more serious topics about the opioid crisis and destructive behavior in teens.
Attendees were treated to breakfast and lunch. Vendors were on site for an exclusive shopping experience and door prize drawings were held during breaks.
The next WLL event: Food, Fun, & Fruit Trees will be held on Thursday, June 7. Details will be posted at https://www.extension.iastate.edu/fremont.
