The contestants held their breath and crossed their fingers as Wendy Mueller, the mistress of ceremonies, announced the winner of the 2010, fourteenth annual, Little Miss Germanfest competition.
Mueller announced the name, “Little Miss Germanfest 2010 is Sydney Wellsandt.” The crowd clapped as Wellsandt came up and received her crown and sash from little miss germanfest 2009 Nicole Stubbendick as Mueller handed her the certificate.
According to the program, this years little miss Germanfest is the daughter of Rod and Jeannette Wellsandt. She will be in the second grade this fall and her favorite color is blue. Playing outside is one of her favorite things to do and she is active in soccer, golf, softball, piano, girl scouts and 4-H.
Wellsandt received a $100 savings bond from Countryside Bank.
Among the other events of Abendessen was the coronation of the Germanfest King and Queen as well as the selection of the Burgermeister and parade grand marshall.
This years decision for 2010 Royalty went to Wayne and Paula Wohlers. They received their crowns and robes from the outgoing King and Queen Lenard and Letha Buchholz.
This years title of Burgermeister went to Tim Keim who received his suspenders, hat, key and bell. Keim rang his new bell in celebration.
The parade grand marshall this year will be Jim pierce.
