The Governor’s Office has recently released the Iowa Department of Management’s report on the I-JOBS program (Iowa’s Infrastructure Investment Initiative).
Following is the summary of the report from the Governor’s Office.
I-JOBS was created following the historic flooding in 2008 in which cities and towns were overwhelmed with needs.
This program helped Iowans begin to recover immediately from flood damage and prevent future flooding, rebuild and update Iowa’s infrastructure and create good paying jobs for hard working Iowans.
As of June 30, $705,355,935 was invested to create 1,688 projects reaching all 99 counties.  With an additional $610,585,794 leveraged from local, state, federal and private funds, $1.32 billion in projects has been committed, planned or completed.
Iowa has worked hard to attain our Triple A bond rating resulting in historic low interest rates, said state officials.
The bonds will be paid off through gambling revenues, criminal fees and fines, etc. – no taxes will be raised.
